Massive Medal Haul at County Champs

Wigan Harriers had their most successful County Championships for many years with athletes competing across four counties winning an incredible 67 medals.

Greater Manchester 

Amy Hewitt was the clubs most successful athlete here dominating the U20 jumps with Gold in the Long, Triple and High jumps plus a silver in discus. 

Yas Baker made it a one, two in the discus plus a silver in the shot, whilst Owen Baron won the 400m hurdles. 

In the senior competition it was gold for Rebekah Hopper in the Javelin and with silver on the shot and  bronze in the discus to complete the set. Jeff Derbyshire was another senior winner with victory in the triple jump. 

At U18 Holly Nicholls led the way with double gold over 3000m and 1500m steeplechase plus silver in the 1500m. Lauren Hewitt was another gold medalist winning high and triple jumps and picked up bronze in the long jump. Whilst Claudia Berry won the Pole Vault. 

At U16 Sam Hodgkinson was a double gold with High Jump and Pole Vault wins plus a silver in the sprint hurdles and bronze in the long hurdles. Whilst Sophie Bowden-McKay took the girls pole vault. 

In the U14s Jessica Wrath struck gold in the high jump whilst in the U12s it was gold for Teddy Waters over 75m and Freya Phipps in the long jump, whilst also took bronze over 150m

Combined Eventer Gracie Scott won an amazing four golds in the U20s winning the 400m, High Jump, Shot and Javelin plus a silver in Long Jump. 

All of Wigans U20s took gold in Lancashire with Corey Middleton winning the 400m Hurdles, Isobel Dyson the 200m, Rose Jackson the Pole Vault and Sami Manir-Jolley the 1500m. 

At U18 Alfie Walsh smashed his pb to take Triple Jump gold whilst Louis Ball took discus gold also with a pb.
